Remediation of existing assets can offer significant cost savings and operational efficiencies compared to new-build infrastructure. Use of CC or CCH for concrete repair increases the service life and is BBA certified, reducing life cycle costs for existing assets.
CC and CCH offer rapid installation, excellent resistance to abrasion and extreme weathering, and provide puncture, impact and animal damage protection. Typically, CC5™ (5mm thick) is used for concrete repair, minimising volume capacity reduction. A low Manning’s value maintains hydraulic requirements, whilst CC’s flexibility allows for artificial baffling for flow velocity reduction.
Prepare the substrate so that surfaces are well compacted, geotechnically stable with a smooth, uniform surface.
It is important to prevent water and wind ingress between the CC and the substrate, both around the perimeter of the installation and along the joints.
It is important to ensure that the CC is jointed at every overlap between layers and that those layers are fixed to the surface.
It is important to properly hydrate CC, using enough water for the quantity of material used and allowing for drying conditions.
