Co-Directors of Concrete Canvas Ltd, Will and Pete, welcomed local MP Owen Smith to our site in Pontypridd today. Owen is the MP for Pontypridd. We hope to welcome him back soon.

In October 2017, Concrete Canvas® GCCM* (CC) was used to line a channel at the side of the Three Arch Bridge which runs over the rail line in Sherborne, Somerset. The purpose of the channel was to divert surface water runoff from farmers fields away from an embankment that had previously slipped due to saturation.

The works were carried out by Suttle Projects on behalf of Osborne, for Network Rail, with input and Consultation provided by from Arcadis, who specified CC as a robust channel lining solution that would require minimal future maintenance.

The project was carried out in two stages to suit the site programme – this project was carried out alongside a larger project which was required to reinstate an embankment which failed during a storm event.

Read the full case study here, to find out how the project was carried out, and what the Director of contractor Suttles thought of the product.

Our 2nd Phase installation at Fosse Way, Sherston, UK has been featured in Rail Technology Magazine.

The article looks at the benefits of using CC8™ for Phase 2 of the project, which was part of the Great Western electrification project. To see the article, click here.

Concrete Canvas’ Avoca Mines case study has been featured in the Ireland Engineers Journal.

The project is one of the biggest, and possibly the best known of our projects to come out of Ireland. To see the Ireland Engineers Journal’s article about the project, click here.

02 JULY 2018

In April, a Polish court issued a preliminary injunction against Eurobent Sp.zo.o – the manufacturer of Tiltex™ (a cement/sand filled GCL product marketed as a GCCM*) – to refrain from infringement of Concrete Canvas Technology Ltd.’s patent PL/EP 2027319.

The court of appeal in Wroclaw has rejected the appeal by Eurobent Sp.z o.o and upheld the preliminary injunction to refrain from infringement of Concrete Canvas Technology Ltd.’s patent.

Last year, CC gave the exciting opportunity to five students, who took on a variety of projects, and influenced a variety of the company’s processes.

Two of last year’s interns, Tom and Stewart have been featured in a Q&A article in the University’s latest online newsletter. Take a look here.

Wales’ First Minister visited Concrete Canvas Ltd at their Pontypridd site last week, speaking to co-Directors Will Crawford and Peter Brewin about Welsh export statistics.

The First Minister also spoke to the Directors to get their take on how a ‘hard Brexit’ could effect company’s like CC, which rely heavily on exports.

Take a look at the short video shared on the First Minister’s Twitter page following his visit:

(Carwyn Jones was First Minister at the time of this post. Tweet shows content from his visit to CCHQ in Pontypridd at the time.)

Welsh Secretary of State, Alun Cairns, this week discussed the importance of Welsh manufacturing for the British economy.

The MP addressed an audience at the annual Barclays and SPTS Technologies Ltd ‘Voice of Welsh Manufacturing’ event on Monday, outlining the Welsh Manufacturing sector’s strengths.

In his speech he singled out the success of Concrete Canvas Ltd, alongside the likes of Aston Martin and Toyota, and how the company is “revolutionising construction processes by manufacturing concrete on a roll”.

This comes ahead of a visit from Wales’ First Minister, Carwyn Jones, at Concrete Canvas’ Pontypridd site on Thursday.

CC has recently expanded, purchasing a new site in Pontyclun, which the company hopes to move to in early 2019.
